Kingdom Records, recording home to the gold-selling Shekinah Glory Ministry, is celebrating the release of the debut CD of the acclaimed Chicago-based sister act, The Brown Sisters. The quintet will perform songs from the forthcoming CD The Brown Sisters Live in Chicago at New Beginnings Church (6620 South King Drive in Chicago, IL) on June 29, 2009 @ 7:00 p.m. Admission fee is $15 which includes a copy of the new CD.

The group’s radio single “Awesome God” is a sweeping, dramatic ballad that is gaining momentum on gospel airwaves. In recent weeks, the Brown Sisters have performed the song on Bishop Greg Davis’ “Rejoice in the Word” program on The Word Network, “Dorinda Clark Cole” on the TCT Network and “The Morning Show” on WJBK Fox Channel 2 in Detroit.

Kingdom Records Vice President, Bernie McLean, concurs. “The Brown Sisters are one of the most talented groups I’ve ever witnessed,” he explains. “When the major artists come to Chicago like Karen Clark Sheard, they always ask for the Brown Sisters to accompany them. For some time now, people were always asking, `why don’t you sign the Brown Sisters?’ Well, now we have signed them and we expect great things from them and their ministry.”

The Brown Sisters have developed a sterling reputation in the Windy City for their riveting gospel stage performances that date back to the early 1990s. They’ve appeared on bills with such musical luminaries as Aretha Franklin, Bobby McFerrin and Mavis Staples, among others. They’ve performed at the prestigious Montreux Jazz and New Orleans Jazz Festivals while also serving as the permanent background vocal group for the nationally syndicated “Testify” television program.
