LaRue Steward - The Essence of Your Presence
By Richard Cox
Up and coming praise and worship artist LaRue Steward, a native of South Carolina, is getting nods from both the gospel and Christian markets. Steward’s debut project I’m Free received rave reviews. A trained vocalist and talented songwriter, her vocal stylings have been compared to such artists as CeCe Winans and Yolanda Adams. She has toured with Martha Munizzi and her pastor Clint Brown from the Faith World Center in Orlando, Florida.
The Essence of Your Presence is her sophomore project. It’s a 10‑track CD filled with some of the most moving worship songs - sure to usher you into the presence of the Lord. If you are a worshipper you’ll love this CD. Aaron Pierce produced this project and the executive producers were Lou Piciccio and Steward.
This project starts with Got Joy an old-fashioned a cappella rendition of Joy Bells Ringing in my Soul. With the vamp, “in the presence of the Lord is fullest of joy,” Steward transitions into a more upbeat R&B tempo that keeps the theme of joy going
Pastor Clint Brown joins in on He’ll Make A Way, a fast paced Sunday morning church song. You can’t help but clap your hands and move your feet as you think about all the ways God has made in your life. You’ll find yourself lifting your hands on Worship and Praise as Steward sings with sincere conviction.
He Is has an upbeat contemporary flair and you’ll find yourself joining in on the high praise and celebration. Fill in the blank about what God is to you. The title cut is a slow-paced worship track. You will automatically get into a posture of worship as Steward’s anointed voice sings “your presence is where I long to be crying Holy.”
Steward creates an intimate worship moment on Here With You that keeps the worship flowing and moves you to surrender to the Lord. Next Jason Crabb joins her with his upbeat classic, Open the Eyes of My Heart. God Alone is a soothing worship cut where Steward’s powerful vocals take you into God’s presence. The track His Majesty is Here is an upbeat song that declares God’s presence is with us now so let’s just worship Him.
